9-11

Wow, who doesn't remember where they were on that day just 8 years ago! I remember well watching all the footage and being almost glued to the TV for the next several days. I had that much time on my hands because I wasn't working at the time and there were no children in the house. :o) I also recall talking to my Grandma on the phone that day and both of us in tears as we discussed all the lives that were lost. While I won't get on a political soap box here, I feel as though our country doesn't realize the impact this made on our current economy rather then the "screw ups" of whatever side you don't call yours. The good that came out of this is that our country came together united; if for even a short while and we relied on one another like a country should. I also hope that we love and appreciate our loved ones even that much more! As I was driving home from having dinner with friends, I couldn't help but take a look at the sky and see our beautiful sunset. As luck would have it, I had a camera in the car and paused for just a brief moment to take this picture. While I wish it could have been a bit more clear, it definitely depicts the beautiful work of art that it was. It also reminds me of the lights that New York City has put in place of the Twin Towers to memorialize that day. How fitting that on this day, the beacons of light were that bright and magnificent. It gave us a beautiful close to a day that we'll never forget!

God Bless the USA!

Beautiful post, Julie! Wasn't it wonderful how people embraced each other and seemed to show more compassion for others in the days following such an immense tragedy?! Hopefully our country can become more 'united' again, without having to endure another 9-11 catastrophe. In God we trust.
